Our Story
Today, Real Estate is a term that is reserved for Property or Land that someone has purchased which is immovable by Law. Typically, Real Estate is only discussed in terms of Ownership, or Potential Acquisition. It is common to hear Real Estate referred to as something we own, whereas in past times it was something we occupied. Historically, this shift has brought about many changes.
The earliest account of Real Estate we have is from the Stone Age! We have evidence that cave men and women not only dwelled in caves, but also built temporary shelters as they traveled. During this era, it was very common to see nomadic tendencies which kept Real Estate in the “something we occupy” column. The places they had were often temporary, although still considered Real Estate by definition. The writing is literally on the wall from this period, as depictions of their dwellings can be found in many caves.
